EG Selected for CLEAN

In March 2025, a classroom toolkit created by Environmental Graphiti® in collaboration with the UCI Science Project was selected for inclusion in the Climate Literacy and Energy Awareness Network (CLEAN) Collection of educational resources.

Titled Enliven Data with Art – Dramatize the Critical Science of Climate Change, the resource helps educators teach climate science by using art to visualize data. Environmental Graphiti®, known for transforming climate data into digital paintings, partnered with UCI to design the toolkit as a creative gateway for making climate data more accessible and meaningful.

All resources in the CLEAN Collection undergo rigorous peer review by educators and scientists to ensure accuracy and alignment with the Climate Literacy and Energy Awareness Essential Principles. The CLEAN Portal, managed by CIRES at the University of Colorado Boulder and SERC at Carleton College, provides vetted climate and energy education resources for middle school through undergraduate levels.

EG & UCI Science Project

Environmental Graphiti® partnered with the UCI Science Project to develop two toolkits for middle and high school classrooms: Enliven Data with Art and The Power of Digital Storytelling. Each includes a teacher’s guide and uses art as an entry point for engaging students with climate science.

The UCI Science Project, part of UC Irvine’s School of Education, works with PK–12 teachers and educational leaders to tackle 21st-century challenges using research-based approaches in science education. Their work includes professional learning, district partnerships, community outreach, and student programming.

Environmental Graphiti® art was also featured in both print and digital form at UC Irvine’s relaunch of the Environmental and Climate Change Literacy Projects (ECCLPs), a UC–CSU initiative advancing PK–12 climate literacy, justice, and action.

Oregon State University — SMILE Program

Environmental Graphiti® collaborated with Oregon State University’s SMILE (Science & Math Investigative Learning Experiences) program to create a toolkit for K–12 teachers. SMILE is a precollege initiative that engages historically underrepresented and rural students in year-round STEM learning while providing professional development and support for their teachers.
