ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHITI AASHE EXHIBIT AUCTION
SPECIAL OFFER FOR AASHE CONFERENCE & expo PARTICIPANTS
Environmental Graphiti® - The Art of Climate Change is a collection of 60 digital paintings by artist Alisa Singer which use contemporary art as a vehicle to enhance public awareness of the science of climate change. Each painting uses as its "blueprint" a chart, graph, map, word or number relating to a key fact or data point about climate change. Once viewers realize the art is not abstract but is, in fact, derived from facts and data, they become more engaged in both the art and the underlying scientific message.
20 paintings (images on the right) from the collection will be exhibited at the AASHE Conference & Expo. The pieces will be printed large (average sizes 40”x 30 and 30" x 30") on high gloss professional quality paper, mounted on lightweight styrene board and displayed with a plaque (10”x 8”) describing the data source and science from which the piece was derived.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHITI ART WILL BE AUCTIONED OFF FOR FREE and shipped (together with the descriptive plaque) to any AASHE Conference & Expo participant that commits to display the work in an appropriate setting at his or her campus or other venue. Since the mission of Environmental Graphiti is to share the art (and the science of climate change) with as many students and others as possible, competing bids for pieces will be decided based on the level of exposure the piece is likely to receive.
Environmental Graphiti art has been displayed at dozens of universities and colleges across the country. (Click the above tab “Collaborations – EG & Universities".) Participants who are interested in receiving a piece are strongly encouraged to view the images below in advance of the conference and consider if a suitable location exists to exhibit the art at their college or university or other venue. Be creative – there is no need to limit your options to traditional gallery space. Consider building lobbies, student unions, cafes, dorms or other heavy traffic public spaces. (Detailed shipping instructions will be required before the end of the conference for participants interested in bidding.)
The artist is also willing to offer discounts from retail prices for schools who are interested in acquiring additional pieces. In addition to photo prints, the art is especially striking when printed on light-weight aluminum. Profits from any such sales will be donated by the artist to AASHE.
