These graphs represent the results of an analysis prepared in advance of the 2015 Paris conference at which 195 countries announced their “Intended Nationally Determined Contributions” (INDCs) towards the goal of keeping post-industrial global temperatures below 2° C and, if possible, below 1.5° C. The scientists analyzed the odds both for achieving a range of temperatures based on whether countries achieved their NDCs as well as the likely results if no efforts to reduce emissions are made, in which case temperature increases are likely to exceed 4°C by the end of this century.
